Direct human forcings: Annual, gridded lake area fraction (percentage of lakes in a grid cell) data for the ISIMIP3a simulation round, covering the periods 1850-1900 and 1901-2021. It accounts for growing lake area fraction due to reservoir construction.
The data are derived from the HydroLAKES v1.0 (Messager et al., 2016) and GRanD v1.3 (Lehner et al., 2011) databases and rasterized using the polygon_to_cellareafraction tool (Vanderkelen 2021, available on GitHub), and mapped to 0.5 degrees resolution. Time steps represent increasing reservoirs in their construction year, as given by GRanD.
Reservoirs from 2017 onwards are kept constant.

Version 1.1 of this dataset adds the 1901soc scenario with fixed year-1901 direct human influences.
Version 1.2 adds data for 2018-2021 and removes the separate lakemask files, since the lakemask can be calculated using pctlake and the grid area.
